Eduroam ( education roaming) is an international project of education aimed at providing wireless (or optional wired ) Internet access to employees and students of academic institutions involved in the project without having to contact their local administrators.
The staff and students of institutions using eduroam can access internet in all the institutions affiliated to eduroam ( both in Poland and abroad ) .
Access to the eduroam network requires user authentication 802.1x compliant . This authentication can be enabled for both standard connections ( wired ) and wireless networks. Currently, the second case can be considered by far the predominant . The 802.1x standard allows for a preliminary check whether the user has access to the network. Use of the network is not anonymous. Any connection to the network is recorded , the abuse will be associated with a particular person .
